Strategy, standards and regulations

Development and adoption of standards and regulations on hygiene for food originating from animals and for animal feed hygiene and development of a strategy for managing risk in the food and feed sectors.

Activity 1.2.1. Food safety: Developing regulations on food hygiene for food originating from animals and for hygiene of animal feed.

Method:

The activity will include detailed assessment of the existing regulations on food hygiene for food originating from animals and feed hygiene vis-à-vis their compliance with the respective EU standards. Assessment of compliance will be done using STE reports from Subcomponent 1

The activity includes:

- Assessment of conformity of the existing regulations vis-à-vis their compliance with the respective EU standards, requirements and procedures

- Development of guidelines and / or action plans for implementation (alignment of the legislation with that of the EU)

Activity 1.2.2. Using best practice from EU Member States to develop standards that meet the EU requirements on food safety. All necessary assistance provided for preparation of the new regulations, guidelines, checklists, or standards or amendments to the existing ones

Method:

The activity will include detailed assessment of the existing regulations, guidelines, checklists, or standards on food safety in BC

This will lead to a detailed analysis of:

- State of play on transposition of EU legislation into national legislation;

- Limitations, weaknesses and nonconformities with EU requirements;

- Needs to develop new regulations, guidelines, checklists, or standards or amendments to the existing ones according EU requirements on food safety.

The assistance in development new regulations, guidelines, checklists, or standards or amendments to the existing ones according EU requirements on food safety will be provided

 

Activity 1.2.3. Food safety – using evidence from activities in subcomponent 1 develop a draft risk management strategy that prioritize actions, assigns responsibilities, and identifies time frames for action.

Method:

Discussion proposals on risk management strategy with BC leading project staff.

This will lead to:

- Analysis of STEs’ reports from activities in subcomponent 1

- Development of Risk management strategy that prioritize actions, assigns responsibilities, and identifies time frames for action drafted
